A Gem from the '60s - Still a Gem Today
Latest addition: my
review of Vashti's 2022 memoir,
Wayward.
As a young woman in the 1960s and
early '70s, Vashti Bunyan was a rare talent, recording songs ranging from gentle ruminations
on love to glossy pop singles. Haunting tunes such as "Winter is Blue" brought her minor
acclaim, but she left the music business for more than 30 years. Her triumphant return, with
the albums Lookaftering [2005] and Heartleap [2014], was great news for her
fans; the former album helped inspire a 2008 documentary,Vashti Bunyan: From Here to Before.
I have set up this site to share my
views on Vashti's music, which I love and admire. I hope you explore her artistry and feel
the same about it!
(P.S. No, that is not a picture of
Vashti — just a stock image of someone enjoying music.)
